Starting off with the big news, Prince Félix and Princess Claire are currently visiting Japan where they participated in the 100th anniversary celebrations of the Sophia University alongside the Emperor and Empress of Japan. Also in attendance was Luxembourg's archbishop Jean-Claude Hollerich who is a former professor and vice-rector of the Jesuit university.
The centennial celebrations for the Tokyo-based university started with a mass held at the St. Ignatius Church and continued with a special celebration at the Tokyo International Forum attended by many different personalities. In the evening, Prince Félix and Princess Claire met with Luxembourgish
residents in Japan during a reception held in their honour at the Grand Duchy's embassy.
Galleries of visuals of the newly weds Japanese adventures can be found at Wort in German, Wort in French, Wort in English, Wort in Portuguese, RTL and on the website of the cour.
Meanwhile in much less publicised news, Prince Robert was in New York City last week to promote his wines during an event organised by the Wine Spectator magazin.

Thanks for the update. Though I'm wondering: why does a university in Japan merit a Grand Ducal visit? What's the connection?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure where the original contact came from but Luxembourgish priests regularly teach at the university; the Archbishop was one of them and I believe that there are another two at the moment. There is also an overseas campus of the Sophia University in Luxembourg and the Grand Ducal Family keeps close ties with foreign universities who have campi in Luxembourg.
