Luxembourg as well as neighbouring France and Germany are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the inauguration of the Moselle canal this week. Since 1964 the Moselle river has now been navigable for 1500 ton barges between the French town of Thionville and Koblenz in Germany. Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria-Teresa as well as politicians from the Grand Duchy and its two biggest neighbours marked the beginning of a number of celebrations and events at the Château de Schengen today.
Visuals of today's event are available at Wort in German.
