From the 6th to the 7th, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa is in Paris to attend and speak at the
Global Social Business Summit (GSBS). The event opened on the 4th and runs through the 7th. Also present for the Summit were Princess Alexandra, Queen Sofia of Spain, and the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo.

The theme is "How to Create a New Human Society," and the Grand Duchess's speech highlighted the need to focus on "an economy in the service of men and not pure finance." She also encouraged a positive view of the opportunities for finance: "Finance can become a noble and useful material for the future of the planet and social cohesion when it is worked by intelligent, generous and altruistic people." The event is organized in part through the efforts of
Muhammad Yunus who developed the first microcredit institution.

The Summit was held at the
Cité Universitaire Internationale, and the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess
were also there on the 4th for the 90th anniversary of the
Fondation Biermans-Lapôtre, which hosts Belgian and Luxembourgish students at the school.
