On the 10th, Grand Duke Henri was in Aix-la-Chapelle (Aachen) to attend the events accompanying the Prix international Charlemagne. This year's award was presented to French President Emmanuel Macron, and also in attendance were German Chancellor Angela Merkel and King Felipe of Spain.
The Prix international Charlemagne d’Aix-la-Chapelle was first given in 1950 and reflects individuals or institutions recognized for their commitment to European unity. The Grand Duke has sponsored the presentation of the prize since 2004.
