The week of June 30th was a busy one for our dear Grand Duke - he spread the royal sunshine among many an athlete and one of Europe's very finest. HRH received Admiral James G. Stavridis, supreme commander of the allied forces in Europe (SACEUR) during the Admiral's official visit to Luxembourg.
The dashing Duke also paid a visit to the National Sporting and Cultural Center of Luxembourg-Kirchberg. A proud member of the International Olympic Committee himself, HRH was on hand to present a distinction to the Luxembourgish Olympians of the 1960 Rome Olympics in recognition of their merits to sport within the country.
