Yesterday visitors to the palais grand-ducal got a special surprise when Grand Duchess Maria Teresa turned up as the guide for the tour. The Grand Duchess showed around some thirty people revealing personal stories and giving background information about the official city residence of the Grand Duke and his family. The "Guide For One Day" initiative is part of Luxembourg's nation-branding efforts, designed to show off the Grand Duchy from new angles. Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer guide is invited to introduce their fellow residents to unusual places and hidden landscapes, sports activities, leisure pursuits or cultural curiosities and attractions that they find particularly interesting and enjoyable.
