On Saturday, a memorial mass for the late King Baudouin of the Belgians was celebrated at the Église Notre-Dame du Laeken in Brussels. King Baudouin, who died 25 years ago, was the brother of Grand Duchess Joséphine-Charlotte and thus was the uncle of Grand Duke Henri and his siblings. So it is no surprise that attendance by the Grand Ducal Family was numerous. The Grand Duke himself and Prince Louis represented the main line of the family. (Grand Duchess Maria Teresa, in difference to prior announcements, did not attend.) It's interesting to note that Hélène Vestur, first wife of Prince Jean, also attended the mass.
Archduchess Marie-Astrid, older sister of the Grand Duke, and her husband Archduke Carl-Christian with his mother Archduchess Yolande.
Princess Margaretha and Prince Nikolaus...
...and their three children: Princess Anunciata, Princess Astrid and Prince Josef.
Prince Guillaume and Princess Sibilla. Even though there doesn't seem to be a proper picture of them yet, their children Prince Paul-Louis, Princess Charlotte and Prince Léopold were also in attendance for the mass.
I say "yet" because you should stay tuned: Our "field reporter" Arjan was in Brussels yesterday for the event and he will share his experience (and photos!) with all of us soon!
