Sporty Grand Duke (and Son) *

Last weekend, Grand Duke Henri participated in the "Ischgl Heroes Challenge", a charity skiing race in Austria. The event was organised by the former Luxembourgish alpine ski racer - yes, that does exist though I admit that he was born in Austria - Marc Girardelli, a two time Olympic medalist and four time world champion.

Anyway, the sporty Grand Duke raced for the "Team Hotel Sonne" which came in third place; I do kinda like that they made Henri his last and Großherzog his given name on the staring list. When you look at the list of results, you will see that a certain "Guillaum Luxembourg" - I couldn't specify whether it was Gui or uncle Guillaume - also took part in the race for "Team Luxembourg" which came in last place, though it wasn't (whichever) Guillaume's fault as he posted the team's second best time.

In fact it is the Hereditary Grand Duke, our always attentive fellow Luxaholic Villum spotted Gui on the far right in the second picture you can find in the link below.

Alltogether the charity race and the accompanying events raised about 30.000 euros for various causes such as the S.O.S. Children's Villages, Wings for Life and the Mentor Foundation.

Photographic evidence of the sporty father and son duo skiing can be found over at Wort.
