Today, Grand Duke Henri received in audience COREPER II, or the Committee of Permanent Representatives (i.e., Comité des représentants permanents) of member states of the European Union. These representatives, primarily ambassadors, function as a liaison between the individual member country and the EU as a broader organization and are granted negotiation powers in financial, political, and foreign policy matters. (By contrast, the representatives of COREPER I handle social and internal economic matters.)
A little more information about the audience at the Cour website.
