Every two years, Europe's smallest states gather for the Games of the Small States of Europe. This year it was San Marino's turn to host the multi-sport event. Over the course of the coming week, sportspeople from Andorra, Cyprus, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, Montenegro and San Marino will compete for medals in the following sports: Athletics, basketball, cycling, golf, gymnastics, judo, shooting, swimming, table tennis, tennis and volleyball.

Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie as well as Princess Nora, Liechtenstein's IOC member, were on hand to witness the opening ceremony yesterday and the first day of competition that saw both the Grand Duchy and the Principality bag a few medals. Wort has Luxembourg-centric pictures of yesterday and today; Vaterland Liechtenstein-centric ones.
