The Grand Duke's Christmas Speech

First of all, here is hoping that you all had a very merry Christmas!

Two days ago on Christmas Eve, the Grand Duke's traditional Christmas speech was delivered right into his subjects living rooms - or wherever their TVs are situated - when it was broadcasted by RTL. In case you would like to watch it, have a look here. For the very first time, it was simultaneously translated into sign language.

In his speech, Grand Duke Henri looked back on fading 2012 and looked ahead at the challenges that Luxembourg and its citizens will face in the coming year. In relation to his family, the Grand Duke thanked Luxembourgers for so joyously celebrating the wedding of the Hereditary Grand Ducal couple with the family and wished Prince Félix and his fiancée Claire Lademacher all the best for their wedding and future together. In the name of himself, his wife, his father, the hereditary Grand Ducal couple and the whole family, he wished everyone happy Christmas as well as a happy new year.

The Luxembourgish version of the speech can be found on the website of the government, as can be the French version. Wort has an English summary of the speech.
