Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa as well as Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie were out and about earlier tonight to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the
Grand Théâtre de la Ville de Luxembourg. Built according to plans of French architect Alain Bourbonnais, the theatre, at other points in time both known as
Nouveau théâtre de Luxembourg or
Théâtre municipal Luxembourg, was opened on April 15th, 1964.
Together the Grand Duke, Grand Duchess, Hereditary Grand Duke and Hereditary Grand Duchess watched the premiere of a musical that needs no introduction, West Side Story. The broadway classic turned movie was chosen for the night as it combines the three branches of the
Grand Théâtre, opera, theatre and dance.
