The Liechtenstein Tiara Championship (Finale): Princess Olga's of Greece's Boucheron Diamond Tiara vs. Douglas Floral Tiara

Well, well, well... Looks like summer is over for good (at least judging by the number of events by the Grand Ducal Family). We held off with the grand finale of the Liechtenstein Tiara Championship waiting for more quiet times but it doesn't look like we will see any anytime soon. So here we go!
Fun fact: The tiaras that made it into the finale of the LTC are actually two sparklers that aren't in fact owned by the Princely Family. While Princess Olga's of Greece's Boucheron Diamond Tiara - which was owned by the husband of a Liechtenstein princess - has been sold, the Douglas Floral Tiara is owned by the mother of Hereditary Princess Sophie (and - fingers crossed - might became part of the princely collection one day). Nevertheless, tell us...

The Liechtenstein Tiara Championship (SF2): Kinsky Palmette Tiara vs. Douglas Floral Tiara

You may have noticed that we've been a bit m.i.a. lately and that we used yesterday to catch up on the many, many things that happened in the past week or two in Luxarazzi Land. (See and read what I've personally be up to on Castleholic soon!) After the compulsory blogging comes the freestyle and so we'll continue our tradition of sparkly Sundays with the second semi-final of the Liechtenstein Tiara Championship.
The first of our semi-finals actually saw the first major upset of the LTC with the red-hot favourite and big gun of the Princely Family, the Habsburg Fringe Tiara, being kicked out of the Championship by Princess Olga's of Greece's Boucheron Diamond Tiara. Let's see, what awaits us in the second semi-final with the Kinsky Palmette Tiara facing off against the Douglas Floral Tiara. Tell us...

The Liechtenstein Tiara Championship (SF1): Habsburg Fringe Tiara vs. Princess Olga's Boucheron Diamond Tiara

You have spoken, the group stage of the Liechtenstein Tiara Championship is over - see here what happened so far - and so we are heading straight into the semi-finals. The first of which sees the Habsburg Fringe Tiara face off against Princess Olga of Greece's Boucheron Diamond Tiara. A tough choice for many, I'm sure - are you Team Fringe or Team Floral?

The Liechtenstein Tiara Championship: What Happened So Far

Summer is coming to an end - and with it does our summer series. The group stages of the Liechtenstein Tiara Championship came to and end with only two semi-finals and the grand finale to come. Today, let's have a look at the results of the first five rounds of voting; tomorrow we'll have a closer look at one of the tiaras that advanced to the semi-finals; and on Monday the voting begins again!
In Group A the clear favourites took home the tickets to make it to the next round. While the Habsburg Fringe Tiara won all matches, the Douglas Floral Tiara only lost one (obviously...) and had four wins. Princess Franziska's Diamond Tiara came third (3 wins), the Diamond Honeysuckle Tiara was fourth (2 wins), Princess Elsa's Diamond Tiara took home one win and came in fifth with no win and sixth place for Princess Marie's Wedding Tiara. (Hey, with you guys giving it to little love, it's no wonder the Fürstin never wears it! Or is it the other way around?)
Group B also saw the win of a favourite (and one of the best known tiaras of the Princely Family): The Kinsky Palmette Tiara, which - similarly to its counterpart in Group A, the Habsburg Fringe Tiara - took home five wins. With four wins, Princess Olga of Greece's Boucheron Diamond Tiara (phew, what a name! Come back tomorrow to learn more about it) came in second place. Not advancing to the next round are the Bavarian Pearl and Diamond Floral Tiara (3 wins), the Bulgarian Fringe Tiara (2 wins), the Ruby and Diamond Tiara (1 win) and Princess Margaretha's Sapphire Necklace Tiara.

Liechtenstein Tiara Championship: Group B, Round 2

The last round of the LTC brought us rather clear (and admittedy expected) wins of the Douglas Floral Tiara, the Habsburg Fringe Tiara and Princess Franziska's Diamond Tiara - it was kind of a go big(ger) or go home round. Will it be the same today in Round 2 of Group B?

Liechtenstein Tiara Championship: Group A, Round 2

Last time on LTC, it was a close one where every vote counts (literally)! While Queen Olga of Greece's Boucheron Diamond Tiara got a relatively easy win against the Bulgarian Fringe Tiara, the matches between the Bavarian Pearl and Floral Tiara and Kinsky Palmette Tiara as well as the Ruby and Diamond Tiara and Princess Margaretha's Sapphire Necklace Tiara went head to head all the way through. In the end, the wins went to the Kinsky Palmette Tiara by just one single (!) vote and to the Ruby and Diamond Tiara by eleven votes.
In today's edition of LTC, it's time to go back to Group A for the second round. Which tiara of the two do you prefer in the following matches? Facing off against each other are the Diamond Honeysuckle Tiara (top row, third from left) against the Douglas Floral Tiara (bottom row, first from left); Princess Marie's Wedding Gift Tiara (bottom row, third from left) against the Habsburg Fringe Tiara (first row, first from left); and Princess Franziska's Diamond Tiara against Princess Elsa's Diamond Tiara.

The Liechtenstein Tiara Championship

Alright people, let's get this sparkly party started... Last year, we had the Luxarazzi Tiara Race to keep us busy over the summer; this year, we will delve a bit deeper into the Liechtenstein vaults to find out which one your favourite tiara of the Princely Family is. We all know that the Liechtenstein vaults seemingly aren't as deep as the ones of the Grand Ducal Family of Luxembourg - that, or they simply love the Habsburg Fringe Tiara - and so, we have come up with a bit of a different modus, inspired by the recent Euro. (Yes, you could take the girl out of the country but you can't take the country out of the girl...)

Our Liechtenstein Tiara Championship has twelve entries, which we have drawn into to groups of six each. All the tiaras in group A will face off against each other, as will the tiaras in group B. The two tiaras with the most wins of each group will advance to the next round, the semifinal. In the semis, the winner of group A will face the runner-up of group B and vice versa. If two tiaras have the same amount of wins, we'll see how they fared head-to-head. Not all tiaras involved are strictly owned by the Princely Family but has been worn by one of their princesses. We did exclude the Luxembourg tiaras Princess Margaretha has worn as we've already covered those last year.

So let's see, who is in it, to win it:
Group A
Princess Elsa's Diamond Tiara
Princess Marie's Wedding Gift Tiara

Group B
Princess Margaretha's Sapphire Necklace Tiara
Queen Olga of Greece's Boucheron Diamond Tiara

As many of the Liechtenstein tiaras featured in our Liechtenstein Tiara Championship, which henceforth shall also be known as LTC, we asked the wonderful and knowledgeable Ella Kay of The Court Jeweller to give us her opinions on the sparklers featured in this race. Here's what she had to say:

GROUP A

Favorite: I have to go with the Habsburg Fringe, which happens to be one of my favorite tiaras full-stop. It's so perfectly proportioned and classic, and I love that it has such a detailed historical legacy.
Least Liked: I've always felt like I should like Princess Franziska's Tiara, but something about it leaves me cold. (I can't believe I just said that about a big wall of diamonds.)
Dark Horse: Hereditary Princess Sophie wore the Douglas Tiara so beautifully at her wedding that I think it might sneak out a win in this group. Everybody loves a diamond floral tiara, right?
Which Will Advance?: Still going with the Habsburg Fringe.

GROUP B

Favorite: The Kinsky Tiara is beautifully balanced, and I think the combination of the rounded elements and the upright pieces works so well. It was gorgeous on Princess Angela at her wedding!
Least Liked: Princess Margaretha's Sapphire Necklace Tiara doesn't do it for me. Too spindly!
Dark Horse: The Boucheron-made tiara from the Greek royal family is not one of my personal favorites -- it's a little too tall for my liking -- but it is a design triumph in many ways, and I think many will be rightfully impressed by it.
Which Will Advance?: Either the Kinsky Tiara or the lovely pearl and diamond floral tiara worn by Sophie.

Overall: which will win?
Ooh, this is tough. So many good choices! I'm going with the Habsburg Fringe -- it has classic style and an imperial legacy, and it's still in the royal spotlight at major events today.

Which one do you think will get the crown? Leave us a comment below and make sure to return tomorrow to cast your first vote!
