The End is Near...

This morning Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa attended a Holy Mass at the Cathédrale Notre-Dame to kick off the last day of this year's Octave of Our Lady of Luxembourg. Pictures of the service are available at Wort in German and Wort in French.

This afternoon the Octave will close with a grand procession that is traditionally attended by large numbers of members of the Grand Ducal Family. The agenda of the official website of the cour tells us that the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess as well as the Hereditary Grand Duke and the Hereditary Grand Duchess will be in attendance though I remember from last year that not all members who were actually in attendance were mentioned beforehand. So keep your fingers crossed that we will be blessed - I love me some convenient terminology - to see more family members all dressed up and with their rosary firmly in hand.

The closing procession starts at about 3pm; Wort and RTL offer livestreams from inside the cathedral but I'm not too sure whether they will also show the parts outside. The Grand Ducal Family also traditionally makes a balcony appearance to round off the day.

  1. How great would it be if Claire was there ! Although I'm sure it won't be the case, but lets dream...

  2. Would have been great but I don't think we'll see her again until the wedding or some low key event just as it has been with Stéphanie before the wedding.

Sadly, only Maria Teresa, Henri, Guillaume and Stéphanie participated in the closing procession.
