Tidings from France

Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume, Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie and her much improved wardrobe are currently on an economic mission in France. Day one led them to Paris where they also stayed for the beginning of the second day.

Together with a delegation that also included Etienne Schneider, minister for the economy and foreign trade, and Jean-Marie Halsdorf, minister of defence, they visited the Salon international de l'aéronautique et de l'espace, Paris-Le Bourget, or simply the Paris Air Show. The world's oldest and largest air show is held during odd numbered years at the Le Bourget airport in the north of the French capital.

At the fair, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie visited the Luxembourgish booth and some other important stands but also had more practical aeronautic things on their agenda. A highly concentrated Guillaume flew a eurofighter (in a flight simulation of course) and together the couple boarded a microlight aircraft to learn about the adventures of two Luxembourg-licensed pilots who flew 60,341 kilometres around the world.

Apparently, the delegation travelled to Toulouse for the remainder of the day though I'm not too sure what exactly was on their agenda today and what will happen there tomorrow when they will also visit Lyon. (We'll just cover all of it in tomorrow's post.)

Both the website of the cour and Tageblatt have more pictures of today.

  1. HGD Stephanie really does look lovely. Photos of her show that she is likely a nice person, so I am cheering from the sidelines on her improved wardrobe choices.
