How lovely that Guillaume and Stephanie have been confirmed as guests at their own wedding!

Dozens of other nobles and royals are certain to attend. One should surely expect that the sisters of Grand Duke Jean, Prince Robert and his family, and the children of Princess Marie-Astrid, Prince Jean, Prince Guillaume, Princess Margaretha and Prince Louis will also be in attendance.

Sadly, the cour is painfully inconsistent when using the titles, thus I wouldn't use the guest list as a reference to which title actually is the correct one.

A) While "the Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Norway" are titled as what they are (the Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Norway), their peers from Denmark are simply called "Prince Frédérik and Princess Mary of Denmark".

B) Since a couple of years, her own wedding to be precise, "HRH Princess Märtha Louise of Norway" is a simple highness.

C) While the former king and queen of the Hellenes are correctly called "Their Majesties King Constantin and Queen Anne-Marie of Greece", the former tsar of Bulgaria (and former prime minister, too, but that doesn't really matter in this context) and his wife are called as if they were still reigning monarchs, "Their Majesties the King and Queen of Bulgaria".

D) The list doesn't help to solve the mystery surrounding the name and title of Diane de Guerre, second wife of Grand Duke Henri's brother Prince Jean. This time she is titled as "Countess Diane de Nassau", I personally wrote an e-mail to the cour a while ago and received the answer that she remains Madame Diane de Guerre.

E) There are even more examples I won't be pointing out.

  2. Schouldn't it be
the current Earl de Lannoy, Lady de Schaetzen or Lord Jehan de Lannoy ?

  3. Quite frankly, no! The title of an Earl only exists in Great Britain. The head of the family is The Count de Lannoy, his wife is The Countess de Lannoy, all other members are Count / Countess X de Lannoy. You cannot apply the customs or laws of one country to another.
