Mass for Blessed Karl

Photo: The Catholic Beat
As reported in advance, Archduke Imre and Archduchess Kathleen visited in Cincinnati, Ohio, Katie's native, recently in order to participate in a mass for Imre's great-grandfather Blessed Karl, the last emperor of the Austro-Hungarian Empire who was beatified in 2004. Afterwards, the oldest son of Archduke Carl-Christian of Austria and Princess Marie-Astrid gave a lecture about his ancestor. A number of pictures of both the mass and the lecture can be found on the Facebook page of The Catholic Beat.

The Catholic Beat also has an article about the couple's visit to the Sacred Heart Church, which includes a few interview-ish tidbits. Archduke Imre tells the story of the nun who's cure was responsible for the beatification of Emperor Karl and Archduchess Kathleen reveals what drew her to Empress Zita, for whom she used to run the Facebook fanpage. She also says that before meeting her future husband, she expected and could not wait to tell "a nice old gentleman with a a cane and a hat about my devotion to his great-grandmother". She seems to have been the first communications director who could not work out how to operate everyone's good ol' friend Google. Anyways... The article also reveals Imre's and Katie's first child will be born in November.

In related news, Imre's parents, Archduke Carl-Christian and Princess Marie-Astrid, will be at the Château de la Flocellière in Western France this Wednesday where the grandson of Emperor Karl and Empress Zita will give a lecture about them.
