GSSE, Day 1: The Curious Case of the Changing Outfit

Before we head into the coverage of the first day of competition of the Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) currently taking place in Iceland, let's take a moment for a look back at last night, which was the night of the opening ceremony. Check out Volksblatt, Vaterland and Wort for more visuals and RTL to watch a video including the highlights of the opening ceremony in its first half. The video's second half already leads us to the most random question of the first day of competition: Did Guillaume make it a two outfit kind of day?

Somehow the Hereditary Grand Duke seems to be wearing the Luxembourgish team's gear while watching the air rifle competition and then a blazer and tie to hand over the medals, including a silver medal to the Grand Duchy's Carole Calmes. I'm glad though, Guillaume is owning a pair of un-frayed jeans, if we recall Liechtenstein four years ago, that hasn't always been the case. In much less curious outfit-news, Hereditary Grand Duchess Stéphanie meanwhile stuck to the sport's gear sporting Luxembourg's Red Lion throughout the day, it seems. Good choice!

Also at the shooting venue, though for the men's competition of the day, was Princess Nora, who saw Liechtenstein's men coming first and second. The air riffle GSSE champion is Marc-Andre Kessler with the silver medal going to Michael Mattle.

For a Liechtenstein-centric view of the day, head over to Volksblatt and Vaterland. If you prefer Luxembourg, RTL and L'essentiel are your go-to places.
