Today Grand Duke Henri was in Kirchberg to attend the opening summit for the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), the 12th such gathering of foreign ministers to prepare for next year's summit in Mongolia. The Grand Duke also delivered the opening address, with more than 50 foreign ministers (including Luxembourg Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Jean Asselborn) in attendance.

With the theme "Working together for a sustainable and secure future," the overall focus of this two-day event will be on the ongoing importance of the partnership between countries in Europe and countries in Asia, with the individual sessions exploring topics that include climate change and sustainable development, effectual management of disasters, international connectivity, and the larger future of the organization as a whole.

A little more about the meeting and its goals here.
