On Friday night, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa attended the award ceremony of this year's Edward Steichen Award, which went to Belgian photographer Max Pinckers. Jeff Weber was given the award as the best Luxembourgish artists. As a reward, both of them get to stay in New York City for a few months. The Grand Duchess was accompanied by Minister Maggy Nagel.
FYI, Steichen was a Luxembourgish-born American artist and the award named in his honour, which is supposed to create a
cross-cultural, artistic and educational bridge between Luxembourg and New York, is under the high patronage of the Grand Duchess. The award competition is open to contemporary visual and fine artists between the ages of 25 and 35, winners get to stay in New York City up to six months to expand their work while being sponsored by art institutes not only in Luxembourg, but also the regions surrounding the Grand Duchy.
Edited to add, thanks to Avery: Princess Sibilla was also there - nice to see her out and about! Visual prove at Tageblatt, who have a new design and I'm not quite sure whether I'm into it. #creatureofhabit
