Mystery Solved: A New Tiara for Stéphanie

Photo: Niviere / SIPA France
Seems like everyone's favourite Hereditary Grand Duchess is quite a magpie! Not only has a different tiara graced her head every time we saw her all tiara-d up but she is also introducing new tiaras to the Grand Ducal Collection. Last night's National Day gala caused quite a bit talk among royal jewel lovers as nobody was clearly able to identify which tiara she is wearing. Now that mystery is solved: It seems to be a brand new tiara featuring diamonds set in a butterfly motif. I'd wager the guess that it is a modern piece due to it's size and design. Maybe a wedding (anniversary) present?

  1. I don't really like this tiara. If I were her, I would rather wear one that was already in the collection.

  2. It's not my favourite piece but I think it looks rather good for a modern tiara featuring diamonds. It will be a perfect starter tiara for Princess Stéphanie's future daughter(s).

  3. I think a dainty tiara suits her well, but this particular tiara design screams out "prom accessory" to me.

I think it'd be perfect if really young princesses - like, under age 13 - wore tiaras. Even for an 18 year-old, though, it looks a bit juvenile.

That being said, great dress. She's lovely.

  4. I like it, and the earrings seem to match. Also looks nice with the floral pattern in the dress.

  5. It does seem somewhat small for an HGD, but a lot of the Lux tiaras are quite small. As you say, it'd make a nice starter tiara.

  6. Omg thats one ugly tiara....looks very fake and right from the toys department from wall mart....not a good addition to the vaults...i say dismantle it....

  7. I think I like it, too. I also think that these sorts of tiaras (small, affordable not masterfully crafted) tiaras are the new normal when royal collections are expanded. Royal families no longer have unlimited jewel budgets or the national support to purchase fabulous items like the Empire or the Belgian Scroll.

  8. It seems too small for any but the most petite royal head.
